Seascape Painting

Dramatic seascapes Painting

New art update: I have recently completed a few new semi abstract seascape paintings, a subject I often like to paint, creating the mood and atmosphere of the coast, using texture and colour to describe the shoreline, paint applied freely to create sweeping expressive skies,  many of these paintings are created using a limited colour palette, so the main focus of the art is abstract shapes and texture, without as  much detail as I have painted in many of  my other more representational landscape and seascape paintings

My Seascapes – The Inspiration

Our local coastline is a mix of sand and pebbles, I love the stretch of the coast at Hengistbury Beach, its a bit more rugged than many of the other beaches in Bournemouth, one of my favourite times is just after a storm or heavy weather, the whole beach is covered with bits of driftwood, seaweed, shells, bits of fishing nets and general flotsam and Jetsam, the beach has a deserted beach feel when there’s no one else around which is a welcome relief in a busy chaotic day!

Designed for modern interiors

When making the initial descisions about composition, colour and abstract elements, I take into account that art buyers choose to buy abstract seascape art that fits in with a modern interior, and of course will look great on their walls! some of my art is created thinking about elements of design, so the artworks will be the perfect complement to modern or contemporary living areas, when creating decorative art for art buyer’s homes or places of work I think about current trends in colour, and deep texture is used to create a tactile piece of art, when creating my abstract seascapes texture plays a huge part in describing the coast in all its rugged beauty!
